COMMON EXPERIENCE PAYMENT (CEP)
To date, of the over than 95,000 CEP applications received AND processed, more than 76,000 have been approved for payment, totalling more than $1.56 billion in approved payments. For a more detailed imformation update on the Common Experience Payment, please visit the INAC website.
The deadline for applying for the Common Experience Payment is September 19, 2011. This deadline applies only to the initial application stage of the Common Experience Payment process. The Common Experience Payment process consists of three (3) stages:
- The first stage is the Initial application of CEP.
- If some or all of initial application is denied, the second stage is the Reconsideration Process.
- If some or all of the application for reconsideration is denied, the third and final stage is to appeal.
So long as you apply for the initial application for the CEP by September 19, 2011, the Reconsideration Process and Appeals Process can still take place after this deadline, if needed. For clarification, please contact us at 1-800-465-5581 or call the CEP Response Centre at 1-866-565-4526.
INDEPENDENT ASSESSMENT PROCESS (IAP)
The Independent Assessment Process (IAP) is an alternative dispute resolution process for former Indian Residential students who experienced sexual or serious physical abuse, and may be eligible for compensation through the IAP.
To date, over 21,000 applications have been received, 5800 hearings held, over 4600 decisions rendered with award, over 460 negotiated settlements, and total payments to date total over $615,500,000.
