CEP Reconsideration Process

By now, many people have received their CEP payments. However, there are also many people who did not get as much as they had hoped. If you are one of those people whose claim was rejected as a whole or in part, there is something you can do.

This process is called reconsideration. Every applicant has the right to reconsideration, except:

Where the school applied for is not a recognized Indian Residential School;
· When the person for whom the application is made died prior to May 30, 2005 or for prior to October 5, 1996 for those who attended the Mohawk institute.


You need to fill out a reconsideration form. Many of you will receive one in the mail, but if you have not received one, you can access the form by clicking here.

We urge you all to put as much details and evidence as you can remember. We realize that the events happened a long time ago, however, anything you can remember can help your claim. Pictures, yearbooks, the names of teachers, school principals and others who worked at the school, the names of fellow students and their number so they can be contacted, any school records, or any particular events (i.e., McIntosh burning down) can help prove your attendance and should be included.

The reconsideration process will begin in February of 2008.
