HOW IS PUBLIC LEGAL EDUCATION PROVIDED?
Some of the ways in which PLE is provided includes:
- Legal education workshops
- Clinic Days (sponsored by Legal Aid Ontario)
- School presentations
- Information booths and displays
- Newsletters
- Promotional materials (posters, maps, brochures)
- Circulation of legal education materials and other NALSC generated literature
- Cross-cultural workshops
- Public awareness of Aboriginal justice issues
WHO CAN ACCESS PLE SERVICES?
Our PLE services are available to:
- NAN community members
- NAN communities
- Band Councils and tribal councils from the NAN territory
- Schools
- Justice personnel
HOW CAN YOU ACCESS PLE SERVICES?
Community requests for any number of PLE services are usually handled by the Community Legal Workers (CLWs). The CLWs relay the requests back to the Public Legal Education & Communications Officer at the Thunder Bay office. All other requests may be directed to the Public Legal Education & Communications Officer by e-mail, mail, phone or fax.
