"It is clear that the way to heal society of its violence...and lack of love, it to replace the pyramid of domination with the circle of equality and respect."

Testimonials

The following quotes have been selected from letters of support received from clients, facilitators, tribal councils, child and family services and also barristers and solicitors.

There is a feeling of safety in the circle, a place where we can share and know we will be heard. After the circle, there is a positive feeling in the room."

I believe that CFS, Lawyers and more importantly families have come to depend on and trust Talking Together, because Ive been accessible and available when and where Im needed most, by their side, in court, the community, and event at the clients home, to facilitate relations, provide resource and mediate for change with a strong commitment to adhering to CFSA and doing so in the best interest of our Aboriginal clientele.

I have seen how powerful a circle can be and I believe that the traditional way is the best way&.

An excellent model to break the cycle of abuse.

It promotes healing instead of punishment.

As you know Talking circles are an important part of our culture and this program has had the ability to revive in our First Nations.

There is no doubt that the services offered by this program are of great assistance to everyone involved, particularly the children.

I was initially sceptical about the process but found it to be very useful in bringing all the service providers together with the family. I found we were able to clarify the roles of all the people involved, to set goals, to determine tasks and work towards returning the children home.

Even after all these hundredths of years where most of us have forgotten that his is our tradition, we can still feel how strong the circle is. I am so honoured to have been able to bring back to those who didnt even know it existed.

The unique role of the Talking Circle Protocol project provided the necessary bridge for our families and the child welfare system.

Our experience with the Talking Together process has been nothing but positive.

I am therefore pleased to recommend the continuation of this program. I, for one, hope it continues to remain available and accessible in the future.

From what I have seen, the circle truly respects the feelings of all who take part.
